CHICAGO (WLS) — A golden milestone of giving back is being celebrated this Veterans Day.The Black McDonald’s Operators Association is marking 25 years of its “Food for the Body & Spirit” turkey giveaway, a weeklong effort to feed thousands of Chicago-area families and veterans.
The annual event kicked off on Tuesday at the McDonald’s at 5015 West Madison Street, one of five locations distributing 3,000 turkeys, baked goods, and food gift cards through the week.
Veterans receive priority service with proof of military ID.
The association says its mission remains simple after 25 years, to nourish both body and spirit during the holiday season.
