CHICAGO — A 26-year-old man suffered a serious gunshot wound to the throat early Sunday morning in Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood. Police responded to the 1700 block of West Albion Avenue around 5:50 a.m. The victim was outside when shot and could not speak due to his injuries.

A passerby found him on his hands and knees, bleeding heavily. Officers spotted a blood trail from the street to a nearby apartment building’s third floor. Paramedics rushed him to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he underwent surgery in critical condition. No arrests have been made, and the shooter fled on foot.

    Investigation Details

Belmont Area detectives lead the case. They are checking if it was a robbery or targeted attack. The victim remains the first shooting in Rogers Park this year. Police urge anyone with information to call 911 or submit tips anonymously.

This incident adds to Chicago’s ongoing gun violence concerns. Similar early-morning shootings have hit other neighborhoods recently. No suspect description is available yet, but blood evidence may yield leads. Stay tuned for updates as the probe continues.
